Song #18: Ghosts-Japan

Japan was a new wave band formed in 1974 in London, England and emulated their musical heroes: Roxy Music, David Bowie, and The New York Dolls. This song was from their fifth album, Tin Drum. This moody and atmospheric song was the bands biggest hit, despite the less commercial, experimental lack of drums. A subtle undercurrent of the song is the emotions of the lead singer wanting to split up the band to go solo, which would happen the following year in 1983, despite that fact that the band was just beginning to gain fame.
