Song # 5: Maniacs Are Loose

This 1964 film was also known as The Thrill Killers is about a group of mental institution patients who go on a murder rampage in Los Angeles. Inspired the popularity of Psycho, this movie was truly low budget, casting family and friends and relying on favors and freebees. It began with a famous hypnotist hypnotizing the audience into becoming part of the film. It toured as a roadshow, and during sections of a spinning hypnodisc appearing onscreen, the director and ushers would run through the audience with prop knives and dressed as the maniacs.
